Data Factory 1 (DF1)

DF1 is a 100-robot farm of Sonny robots — to our knowledge the largest robot data factory in the United States. We use DF1 for large-scale real-world teleoperation, evaluation, and online iterative improvement of robot foundation models for dextrous bimanual manipulation.

Ti0 is our first foundation model trained using DF1 data. Ti0 belongs to a new class of methods where policy improvement is driven autonomously via large-scale human supervision over deployed robot fleets.

Sonny – a (semi-) humanoid industrial robot.

Sonny is equipped with two 6-DoF arms, each with 5 kg payload capacity and 900mm of reach, giving it the workspace and payload capacity required for a wide range of bimanual manipulation factory tasks. The head orientation rotates 180° in both roll and pitch. The end effectors are compliant Fin Ray grippers that are easily swappable, supporting future specialization as well as easy repairs.

Sonny has a stereo RGBD camera on each wrist, serving as the main drivers for model control. A time-of-flight RGBD camera on the head and torso work together to provide high-fidelity point clouds used in PTeleop, our 3D proprioceptive teleoperation system.

Sonny's brain is below the table -- a computer featuring a 28 Core Intel i7 Processor, 64 GB RAM, and a 5060Ti Nvidia GPU with16GB VRAM. The computer has sufficient power to rapidly construct point clouds and run inference for our Ti0 foundation model.
